Cage-Free or Free-Range: How to Choose
Both programmes are Australian, Halal certified and raised with no added hormones. The difference is housing. Cage-free birds are raised in large barns with easy access to food and water throughout. Free-range birds are raised to the FREPA standard, which gives them access to fenced outdoor range areas during daylight hours once adequately feathered, at around 21 days, and Lilydale raises them without antibiotics. Choose cage-free for the widest choice of cuts and everyday cooking; choose free-range if outdoor ranging is what matters to you.
